Australian Lighthouses - The Macquarie Lighthouse

The Macquarie Lighthouse is located at South Head in Sydney. It was established in 1791 less than a year after the arrival of First Fleet in New South Wales.

It is a first in Australia and longest navigational light in operation. This site has been a navigational aid since 1791. It operates as a lighthouse since 1818.

Australian Lighthouses - Cape Leeuwin

Cape Leeuwin lighthouse was first lit on 1 December 1896. Initially fueled by heavy mineral oil, it was later redesigned to utilise vapourised kerosene and then electricity.

Cape Naturaliste lighthouse was first lit in 1904. Originally fueled by whale oil, it was later redesigned to utilise vapourised kerosene and then electricity.
